Understanding Chinese Culture from Shen Yun in Atlanta

Atlanta is one of more than 70 stops on Shen Yun Performing Arts' 2010 world tour. Shen Yun's mission is to restore the traditional Chinese culture through Chinese classical dance and music, that has been lost under decades of communist rule.

[Ms. Wang, Technology Company Marketing Director]:

"I come to watch Shen Yun every year. It's very good. I feel it's contributing a lot to spreading Chinese culture. Even after people overseas come to watch it, they can also feel the magnificence and variety of Chinese culture. So I suggest all overseas Chinese people come and watch it because it is our own culture and we all should be proud of it."

[Dr. Bouquett, Technology Company CEO]:

“Well certainly I am interested in the Chinese culture so it just gives me an opportunity to interact more with the Chinese culture. It’s a very old culture and it’s something that we have always been very interested in.”

Shen Yun also provides local Chinese youth with a fresh understanding about Chinese history.

[Ms. Kang, University Student from China]:

"Very beautiful. The dancing and songs are all good. I could feel the 5000-year Chinese culture here."

[Ms. Fu, University student]:

"You never think about Chinese dancing to be so quick, elegant, and actually the dancers’ timings I thought were really good. And you can tell that they practiced and worked hard to do this. So actually I’m really happy to be here right now.”
